This webinar is ideal for library directors, staff, trustees, and anyone who works in a library setting. We will explore the relevant equity factors and implications specifically relating to meeting the customer service needs of the BIPOC community. This webinar will look at both historical elements and current affairs as a guide and knowledge point in providing successful outcomes that consider not only the need for diversity but also equity and inclusion in all aspects of library engagement.

-Draft a blindspot sheet based on what you see in your library community
-Plan a quarterly community listening and reflection session
-Identify Key partners in your BIPOC community to assist with recruiting and policy review

 

Instructor : Tara Michener is a Mental Health Counselor in Private Practice specializing in Racial trauma and relational aggression. She is a civil mediator, an author awarded for work in diversity Equity and inclusion and aTedx Speaker. She also has been a library trustee for over six years and has held multiple officer positions in the profession. Her work has been featured in Essence Magazine, Prevention Magazine, Metro Parent, and more.
