2020 was an exciting year in Children’s publishing! It has also presented a number of challenges for libraries: shifting publication dates, impacted budgets, and shut downs that have impacting duties, hours and staffing. It can be challenging to see the forest through the trees, identifying new titles for use in programs, displays, teach collections, and class visits. You may also be looking to diversity your collection or pivot it to meet changing customer needs.

We’ve got your covered! In this fun, interactive, and inherently socially distanced webinar, Jill Burket Ragase and Amy Schardein will present their must have/favorite board book, picture book, and nonfiction titles, published in 2020.

In addition to an outstanding selection of featured titles, attendees will gain storytime and programing ideas that tie in with key titles, recommended titles for virtual class visits, and our best discoveries to share our collections in these challenging times of curbside/virutal/limited interaction.

Instructors: Jill Burket Ragase is the Literacy Content and Logistics Manager for Blue Manatee Literacy Project, a non-profit children’s bookstore and literacy outreach program. She earned her MLS from the University of Kentucky and is a former Children’s and Juvenile Collection Development Librarian. Amy Schardein, MLS, is a Children's Librarian in Covington, KY for the Kenton County Public Library where she has specialized in early childhood work for over fifteen years. She plans and presents programs, manages book collections, writes and manages grants and presents on a variety of library topics related to Children's Services. She was the 2011 SWON Librarian of the year and is listed in both the 2013 and 2015 Covington Index of Awesome. Amy plays her ukulele and manage the schedule of two teenage children in her spare time.

PCI Webinars are recorded and available to members of the Michigan library community in the Library of Michigan's Niche Staff Skills Academy about a week
