Summary

This webinar will review the Library Privacy Act, as well as other legal issues surrounding information and data privacy for public libraries.

Description

Privacy is an important issue for libraries. In addition to privacy laws governing patron records and reading histories, libraries must grapple with data privacy, employee privacy and even privacy of a patron's reference inquiries. Attendees will:

1)Obtain information on the Michgan Library Privacy Act, including pending legislative changes
2)Learn about state and federal data privacy requirements
3)Learn tips on how to maintain a patron's privacy while providing library services
