Description

By understanding the cryptic nature of the bed bug (Cimex lectularius), be able to help protect your library from the possible impact of a Cimex infestation. Topics to be covered include: the threat - Life cycle and behavior of Cimex, the risk – impact of a possible infestation, the vulnerabilities – how CImex may get in to a library, protection/prevention/mitigation, inspections – routine, detailed, canine, response – control and/or treatment, Cimex Management Plan and resources.

Instructor: Board certified, Sue Stejskal-PhD toxicologist, licensed veterinary technician with practical experience as part-time Special Deputy/Forensic K9 Handler and Lead of the Forensic Support Unit of the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department.  Wide ranging experience in academia, public, and private sections. Author of two technical books ("Death, Decomposition, and Detector Dogs: from science to scene" and "Bugs, Beds, and Breakfasts: dealing with bed bugs in the small business setting") as well as numerous book chapters, articles, etc.  Owner and canine handler for Cimex Detector Canine Services providing educational and certified Cimex canine inspections for small businesses.
