From posting positions to retirement parties, there are laws and rules that Directors, Managers and Boards should know of. This webinar will discuss the basics of employment law as it applies to Michigan public libraries.

Description

Employment law applies to everyone, and is often confusing and vague. However, failure to follow applicable employment laws can cause workplace problems, and possibly result in litigation or fines. This webinar will provide basic information on the State and Federal employment laws pertinent to public libraries.

Participants in this webinar will :

1) Receive a list of State and Federal employment laws that could affect their libraries
2) Learn about "At Will" status and what it really means in Michigan.
3) Gain a better understanding (and resources for assistance!) about how to handle disciplinaryand other sticky employmentissues
4) Receive tips and examples on how to create employment policies and job postings that comply with Federal and State law.
